Brief Bio

I worked at the school as a lunch room supervisor. Was approached by the Principal and my kids teacher. They wanted to know if I could partake in the Remembrance day Program as my kid proudly tells everyone, ‘My Mom LOVES to sing!’

Post Office Sound is always a welcoming space and they were kind to accommodate a quick recording session. The wonderful sound engineer, Kyle Watt, was inspired to create the guitar accompaniment along with one of his friends.

A few of the teacher decided to use the recording as their ‘cool down’ song after lunch. When I would walk through the school halls at the end of the lunch shift, I could hear the recording and the grade 1-3s would have their heads down on their little desks, taking a few moments to prepare themselves for an afternoon of success.

Grateful for these moments.

  • Last Summer I made a challenge to myself to track songs in my bed. Since the Volca Beats, Microkorg, and my UR44 were so compact they were able to live in the room with me for a few months. I layered some guitar with my Epiphone Wildkat and Yamaha bass to complete this track. The heat and lack of airflow ended up killing my laptop- but i’m back in business now! (back up your files folks!) I’ll be releasing 10 limited physical copies with USB sticks containing bonus materials and a canvas painted by me in a variation on the album cover. “The Bedroom E.P.” will be out October 6th! Stay Tuned!

  • Hi, my name is Randy and I have a solo project under the name ‘Bulking Season’. I just released my debut single, and did all of the instruments, singing, and mixing. I used amp sims (Neural DSP Cory Wong on guitar, and a Marshall guitar amp on the bass). BFD3 for the drums. And a TLM103 into an Art TransX then into an Art VoiceChannel. Recorded / mixed in Reaper and then sent to Thomas Ireland to master.

  • Kevin Closs is a singer-songwriter from Manitoulin Island. Since 1990 he has worked as a recording and performing artist releasing twelve independent albums, playing concerts, festivals and clubs across the country. Kevin’s third album, Surrender, featured two hit singles, “Erica” and “Home”. He has also toured with multiple Juno Award winner and country music legend Charlie Major.
    Since 2015 Kevin has also worked as a polar tourism guide. He has travelled to Greenland, Nunavut, Svalbard, Antarctica and South Georgia, writing songs and composing instrumental guitar music inspired by his travels. His new album, In Deep, features music written while travelling in the polar regions with G Adventures on board the M/V Expedition.

  • I wrote this after the tragedy in France Bastille Day in 2016 and then later, this song was included in a live album that was recorded in front of a live audience. A very cool L&M connection here as it was recorded by Norm Thornton (my better half and our District Manager) and also features Rob Somerville on trombone (L&M Burlington) and Steve McDade on trumpet and fluglehorn (L&M Burlington) Steve plays a beautiful fluglehorn solo on this song.

  • Instrumental rock/fusion influenced by the likes of Allan Holdsworth, Vangelis, and Joe Satriani. I tackled all of the composition, guitars, and synthesizers on this track. Matt MacLennan, who also works at the Halifax store, is on fretless bass, and Andrew Wiseman is on drums and mixes. For gear I used my 2017 Gibson SG Standard into an Xotic BB Preamp into a Traynor Ironhorse head, through a reactive load box, into Two Notes impulse responses. I then ran a Great River ME-1NV on an insert to complete the tone. Clean guitars are an Eric Johnson Strat through a Digitech Whammy V on the 5th up harmony setting into an old Yamaha Magicstomp stereo with volume swells. Synthesizers are all Arturia and Native Instruments. To complete to track, I got a great master done by none other than John Cuniberti – known for producing Surfing with the Alien, Flying in a Blue Dream, and and many other Joe Satriani albums. This is part of a full album, also called Voyages, that is coming out on April 11, 2023.
